
Most will say happiness is incalculable. Universally, aversion to suffering and death is enough...people can seek out their own happiness as long as this baseline is met. I believe that's negative utility.
Daily reminder: As long as religion respects 2 rules:
1) Respect reality.
2) Respect universal human rights.
...the rest of the non-religious world are reserving a space for you....
Sometimes I can agree with Adam. Universal Humanism, in one of its rule sets starts with individual survival:
1) Survive
2) Don't prevent another from surviving.
3) Help the less fortunate other.
